Transformative Intelligence digital book (PDF)
Do any of these situations sound familiar?
- Your organization wants to do something with 'all this data' that has been gathered over the years, but no one is saying exactly what to do.
- The organization is expecting great things from Business Intelligence (BI), reporting, and analytics, but there is actually very little definition for what any of it means.
- While there might be lip service paid to strategy, at the end of the day, there is very little time or investment left for strategy. Everyone is just too darned busy.
- There is little real attention paid to organizational learning, especially as it relates to putting digital transformation and BI to work.
- There is a strong desire to approach digital transformation intelligently, but it feels overwhelming to know how best to start.
I've written Transformative Intelligence with all this in mind and more. I distilled my decades of experience consulting with organizations like yours into Transformative Intelligence. With it, I explore the connection between BI, digital transformation, and organizational learning. I see them as three concepts that are connected through strategy.
The book is laid out in the following Chapters:
1 - Why Bad Business Intelligence Matters
2 - Introduction To Transformative Intelligence
3 - ORCA - Organizational Responsiveness & Compassion Alignment
4 - The Cardinal Sins of Business Intelligence
5 - Organizational Moral Courage
6 - It Should ALL Start with Strategy
7 - The Tragedy of Crawl, Walk, Run
8 - Digital Transformation - Barriers, Overstating Value, Best Practices
9 - Reporting Strategy - The End of the Report Graveyard
10 - Analytics Strategy
11 - Analytic Yield Multiplier - A Study
12 - ROI Needs to be Real
13 - Narrative BI
14 - Let’s Talk Solutions
15 - Implementation Cycle and Determinants of Success
16 - Consensus - All Oars Pulling the Same Way
17 - Deep Dive: Analytics Of the Addressable Market
18 - Reporting Pretty-Good Practices
19 - Conclusion
With Transformative Intelligence, I have distilled decades of helping organizations strategically build their intelligence, analytics, and data systems into something that solves real business problems. I focus the book on critical (though de-identified) examples. I give real solutions that have been tested and that work.
Through Transformative Intelligence, organizations can build a culture of organizational learning. I focus on the relationship between this learning with business intelligence and digital transformation. Why? Because I have learned that all three are needed to get the most from any investment.
Many organizations think about technology first. They want to get the right systems in place. I have learned that without Strategy, this is completely backward. By focusing on the ‘why’ of things, organizations are far more ready to get to the ‘how.’
I welcome any and all feedback. Once you have purchased the book here through Gumroad, you will have access to subsequent releases of this edition. I am considering this a mature beta release. You will get notified as I push out updates that you can access for free.
